ArcFM Tools in ArcCatalog
ArcFM Solution Toolbar

Resource Center Home

The ArcFM Solution toolbar is available in the stand-alone version of ArcCatalog but not through the ArcCatalog window opened through ArcMap. Display the ArcFM Solution toolbar by selecting View | Toolbars and selecting ArcFM Solution OR right-click on the gray area of the toolbar and select ArcFM Solution.

You can access the following ArcFM Solution functions from this toolbar:

Data Source Wizard
About ArcFM Solution Displays the About box where you can access information such as the product build number and contact information for Technical Support.
ArcFM Snapping Manager Allows you to determine how features connect or "snap" to one another during placement. When placing one feature that snaps to another, the cursor will snap to the existing feature when it reaches the snapping tolerance.
ArcFM Properties Manager Use to add, assign, and change model names and autoupdaters. The ArcFM Properties Manager also lets administrators configure the appearance and behavior of feature attribute fields.
ArcFM Favorites Allows you to group and define the attribute values of frequently used features and graphics. Administrators may create favorites and graphics that are used but not edited by users.
Create/Update ArcFM Solution System Tables Adds tables to a new database. The administrator, who needs to be logged in as the SDE user, runs this tool once to generate tables required by ArcFM to support Page Templates, Stored Displays, Documents, and Favorites, etc. When creating or updating ArcFM system tables, be sure to grant read and write privileges to other users.
ArcFM Solution Object Converter Allows you to convert objects, feature classes, feature datasets, or geodatabases to use ArcFM (or Designer) custom geo-objects or revert to Esri objects. The Object Converter button is enabled when one or more objects are selected.
ArcFM XML Export Allows you to export specific properties on object, feature, or relationship classes from your geodatabase into an XML file. You may export all of the features in the geodatabase, all of the features in a dataset, or an individual feature.
ArcFM XML Import Use to import an XML file that contains properties for object, feature or relationship classes. Be sure to log in to a version to which you have edit privileges. This is necessary because the tool starts an edit session before modifying the database.
Upgrade ArcFM Solution Database Updates your geodatabase with modifications required by the latest release. You must be signed in as the data owner (of the business tables) to upgrade the database. This tool also requires that there be a single owner for all GIS tables in the geodatabase.
Clean Up Orphaned Versions Removes any temporary post versions (appended with _MMPOST) that cannot be deleted. This temporary version exists until the design is deleted. If the design isn't deleted, the temporary version remains indefinitely. This tool also cleans up these temporary versions. These versions should be cleaned up regularly if you're using Designer.
Data Source Wizard Allows you to change the data sources for the layers in stored displays, documents, page templates, map books, and designs (Designer only). This is extremely useful when moving stored displays from one server to another.

The following buttons are not on the default ArcFM Solution toolbar. You can add them using the procedures at the end of this topic.

ArcFM Solution Help Access the online help files. You can also view all online help and more at http://resources.arcfmsolution.com.
Configure Designer Staker Add to the geodatabase the tables required by Designer Staker. You will need to populate the MM_STAKER_MATERIALS_LIBRARY table with your materials before creating assemblies.
Cost Item Library Manager Add, edit, or retire cost items. The Cost Item Library Manager lists all cost items in the library. Use the navigation buttons and trail at the top to move to any part of the manager.
CU Administration Manage your compatible units (CUs) as well as create and manage filters, tags, and advisories.
Designer Express Configuration Wizard Walks you through selecting the feature classes on which your Design Feature Classes (DFCs) are based. It then creates the DFCs in a separate dataset that may be added to the map and accessed by Designer Express users.
Fiber System Settings Set the default values for some Fiber Manager properties. The values set in the Fiber System Settings window will be the default settings for all users that connect to the database.
Fiber Trace Schematic Configure Fiber Manager for use with ArcGIS Schematics.
Initialize Electric Trace Weights Prepares a new database for Feeder Manager functions by populating the field with the model name MMELECTRICTRACEWEIGHT; this field must also be associated with the MMElectricTraceWeight weight created when the geometric network is built. Initializing also adds to this field information found in bitgates.
Initialize Gas Trace Weights Prepares a new database for gas tracing functions by populating the field with the model name GasTraceWeight; this field must also be associated with the GasTraceWeight weight created when the geometric network is built. Initializing also adds to this field information found in bitgates.
Initialize Water Trace Weights Prepares a new database for water tracing functions by populating the field with the model name WaterTraceWeight; this field must also be associated with the WaterTraceWeight weight created when the geometric network is built. Initializing also adds to this field information found in bitgates.
Inspect and Fix Source Weights In the event you suspect the values in the trace weight field of circuit source feature classes are corrupt, you can use this tool to inspect these values and correct them.
Set ServerOIDs Assigns a ServerOID to each feature in the workspace.
Trace All Feeders Traces all feeders in the geometric network, including those that have no source junction (island) and any feeders downstream from a de-energized junction.

All of the above buttons may not initially appear on the ArcFM Solution toolbar. To add buttons to the toolbar:

The ArcFM tools are enabled depending on whether you select a feature class, dataset, or geodatabase from the Table of Contents in ArcCatalog. The About ArcFM Solution button is always enabled.

When you select a single feature class in ArcCatalog, ArcFM Snapping Manager, ArcFM Properties Manager, ArcFM Solution Object Converter, and ArcFM XML Export are enabled.

When you select a single dataset, ArcFM Solution Object Converter and ArcFM XML Export are enabled.

When you select a geodatabase, all tools are enabled except for ArcFM Snapping Manager.
