Fiber Manager Configuration Guide
How to Add a Flexible Feature

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

The steps in this topic provide a general outline of how to add a flexible feature to the dataset containing the fiber features. The order of the steps was determined by the combination of which object, (e.g., geodatabase, data set, or feature) you need to select and which tool (e.g., Properties, Create Network Features, or ArcFM Properties Manager) you need to use.

Before following these steps, Schneider Electric recommends that you confirm that all the prerequisites are met (Before You Begin) and decide which settings the feature needs (worksheet).

A feature may be composed of several settings, and it may not be practical to try and remember all those settings. To help, a worksheet has been provided. The required settings are already included in the worksheet, and it also has extra rows in which you can write down the additional settings the feature needs.

If you need more than this general outline, each step is linked to a topic which provides more detail on how to perform the task and an example of performing the task. Below are the steps involved in creating a flexible feature.

1. Add a unique class model name

2. Create the flexible feature

3. Add the Global IDs field

4. Create relationships

5. Convert Fiber Manager data

6. Assign model names and autoupdaters

7. Set Aliases (optional)

8. Set Snapping Properties (optional)

9. Create Favorites

10. Export XML (optional)

The above steps do not include the Flexible Patch Panel Connection Report. This report is not required, but must be configured to work properly.
