Fiber Manager Configuration Guide
Configure Flexible Fiber Features

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

The flexible data model provides the ability to define features in the fiber network, how those features relate, and how they appear in reports. These features are defined primarily by assigning model names and autoupdaters.

Some of these model names and autoupdaters are required on all features. However, different types of features need different combinations of the model names and autoupdaters. For example, the model names needed by a point feature are different from the model names needed by a line feature.

Selecting the Correct Model Names and Autoupdaters

Determining which of the model names and autoupdaters a flexible feature needs is a key part in getting it to work correctly. The topics in The Guide to the Model Names and Autoupdaters used by Flexible Features section contain information about the fiber-related model names and autoupdaters that can be used by flexible features.

Worksheet

One flexible feature can use several model names and autoupdaters. To help you keep track of the model names and autoupdaters used by a feature, a worksheet has been provided.

The worksheet includes the required model names and autoupdaters and blank fields in which you can write the additional model names and autoupdaters used by the feature. The worksheet is organized to work in in conjunction with the How to Add a Flexible Feature topic.

Successfully Creating a Flexible Feature

The topics in the How to Create a Flexible Feature section provide instructions on how to create a flexible feature. Most of the topics also include an example. The How to Create a Flexible Feature topic is a general outline of all the steps involved in creating a fiber feature.
