ArcFM Desktop Developer Guide
Network Adapter Overview

Resource Center Home

Analysis tools are an integral part of any suite of tools used in the design/operation of the electric network. They perform vital calculations like voltage drops, voltage flickers during motor starting, and optimal flows.

The Network Adapter data flow framework is designed to provide the integration between third-party engineering analysis tools and the ArcFM Solution. This online help provides a technical explanation of the components in the Network Adapter data flow framework and discusses the concepts involved in implementing those components. Included in these discussions are examples to reinforce these concepts.

Developer samples are installed in the ArcFM Solution\Developer Resources\Developer Samples directory. You may use the project that corresponds to your third-party analysis engine and modify it to fit your needs. This implementation guide refers to the developer samples and indicates specific places in which the code should be customized.

The Classic Implementation 1 (Windmil) and Classic Implementation 2 (Windmil with Customization) tools have been deprecated and will be removed from a future release of the product. If you need assistance for these implementations, please contact Tech Support.

Before You Begin

This section discusses the decisions that should be considered before beginning your Network Adapter implementation.

Network Adapter Data Dependencies

This section describes some suggestions for ensuring accurate data before using Network Adapter to export to your analysis engine.

Scope of Implementation

This section discusses various possible data flow frameworks for Network Adapter. Implement the framework that best suits your business needs.

Standalone Implementation 2 (Windmil)

We recommend this implementation. It allows you to import feeder information into Milsoft's Windmil for analysis.

NOTE: This integration application was renamed from DistOps to Network Adapter with the 8.2 version of the ArcFM Solution.
