Implementation Methodology

Designer extends the ArcFM toolset and integrates with your work management system (WMS) via Workflow Manager in order to facilitate the management of work requests in the ArcFM environment. Using the Common Information Model (CIM), Workflow Manager can accept messaging for work requests and designs from the WMS and update the Workflow Manager database (e.g., WorkflowManager.mdb) accordingly. Designer allows the management of designs in a spatial context so that designs in the WMS can be modeled in the GIS enterprise.

When integrating Designer and Workflow Manager with your WMS, you will need to create messaging components that communicate with your WMS and Workflow Manager via CIM XML. The creation of these components is not discussed in this guide because of the vast variety of WMS systems available.
