ArcFM validation rules can be used on the QA/QC tab in ArcMap to determine the validity of features and objects as well as their related objects. The Validation Rules help section discusses how to create class validation rules. You may also use the validation rules provided with the ArcFM Solution:

• Electric Connectivity: This object validation rule ensures that electric features are properly connected. For example, transformers and other devices must be connected to conductors (or busbars). Conductors should be connected to other conductors.
• Phase of Bank Unit: This field validation rule ensures that the phase value of a transformer unit is A, B, or C.
• Phase on Transformer Bank: This field validation rule ensures that the phase value of a transformer is a subset of a connected primary conductor.
• Rated kVA on Transformer: This object validation rule ensures that the rated kVA of a transformer is equal to the total kVA of all the related transformer units.

Esri also supports three types of validation rules: attribute validation rules, network connectivity rules, and relationship rules. You may use Esri connectivity rules to ensure network connectivity is maintained as the data is created and edited. When snapping geometric network edges together, the editing tools in ArcMap use the connectivity rules you have defined for the network to determine the correct junction type for connecting the two features.
