When the user clicks Export on the NetworkAdapter.exe user interface, Network Adapter traces the selected feeder in the geodatabase. It adds the appropriate attributes and relationships (based on model names) to the trace output. Using this output data, Network Adapter creates an XML (data-specific XML).

If your geodatabase uses the Electric Distribution or MultiSpeak data model, you’ll never see the data-specific XML. This data-specific XML is automatically converted to a MultiSpeak-compliant XML which is imported into DMS and/or saved to the local drive where the user may access it. In this scenario, no customization is needed.

If your geodatabase uses a data model other than Electric Distribution or MultiSpeak or a variation of either data model, then you will need to transform the output XML using an XSL style sheet. The next steps walk you through evaluating your data model to creating an XSL style sheet if necessary.

Using the Worksheets

The worksheets in this section show the feature classes and fields in the Electric Distribution and MultiSpeak data models. Network Adapter looks for these specific feature and field names when transforming to the MultiSpeak-compliant XML. The worksheets in this section describe the data expected in each feature class and field. Use one of these worksheets to map the features and fields in your data model to the features/fields in the Electric Distribution or MultiSpeak data model. Blank rows are provided specifically for this information and will be useful when creating your XSL style sheet and assigning model names. Your data model was most likely built using Electric Distribution or MultiSpeak as a starting point. Use the worksheet that most closely resembles your current data model to minimize the amount of changes needed.
