Every object in the design structure (Work Request, Design, Work Location, CU) is capable of carrying metadata. This metadata is not directly handled by Designer, as the metadata has no effect on the design environment. Metadata is significant only to the WMS, but might need to be edited in the design environment. In these cases, custom metadata editors will need to be used. Metadata editors are written as ActiveX Controls which are loaded into the Metadata Tab of the ArcFM Attribute Editor when the tab is selected. Metadata editors are associated to object classes via the ArcFM Properties Manager. For feature classes, metadata editors can be assigned at the subtype level. In ArcFM Solution 8.3, Metadata Editors were replaced by Extended Data Manager (EDM). The new EDM functionality is more flexible and easier to use. Custom Metadata Editors are still supported by Designer. |
