Configuring Responder/Smart Grid
Reset Responder Services User Permissions

Version: 10.1

Resource Center Home

In this step, you will reset the Administrator permissions for the Responder Services user. You will also need to delete the message queues to ensure that the Responder Services user with its new permissions has continued access to the message queues.

To delete the existing message queues, stop all Responder Services, then run the Delete Queues.bat file. This tool removes all message queues. By default it is installed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner and Miner\Responder\Server\Tools. After you've reset the permissions, restart the Responder services. This creates new message queues with the Login user and its current permissions.

  1. In the Control Panel, open User Accounts and select the user with which you configured Responder.
  2. Click the Properties button and select the highest level of user rank (Standard or Administrator - if available) radio button.
If you already have Administrator privileges, do NOT change permissions, and skip to step 5.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click OK to dismiss the User Accounts window. Next you will need to delete existing message queues.
  5. Right-click My Computer and select Manage. Expand Services and Applications, and Message Queuing.
  6. Delete all entries in the Private Queues directory, then close Computer Management.
  7. Log off and log back in using the original login (the one with Standard privileges). When you start the Responder services, the message queues will be created using the correct user (with the correct permissions).
