Overhead Design Analysis > Tabs > Loading Results Tab |
The Loading Results tab displays information about forces acting on the selected pole and any attachments. Resultant moments, loads, forces, or tensions acting on each element of the selected pole are detailed in the Loading Results screen. Red text indicates an over-extended capacity.
For a majority of the analysis, Overhead Design Analysis (OHDA) uses finite element methods to calculate complex forces by breaking the force components down into small, finite pieces. The computational tool assures the most accurate force analysis possible.
In the Plan View, you can select a pole by clicking it. You can also cycle through the poles with arrows on either side of the Plan View. If you are using the 3D View canvas, there are also arrows on either side of this view for navigation throught he poles.
Hover your cursor over any capacity percentage results to open a popup with details of the calculation. The only calculation that does not have details to display is the Combined Cantilever Loading calculation for cross arm movement.
Following are definitions to help you interpret the calucations:
Each cross arm is listed with its vertical and longitudinal moments, cantilever loading, and capacity. OHDA uses the equations in the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service Bulletin 1724E-151 to calculate the loading on cross arms.
