Using ArcFM Engine
Session Redliner - Advanced

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

The primary difference between the Basic and Advanced Redliner implementations is in how graphics are stored. The Basic Session Redliner implementation stores graphics with the redline session. When the session is deleted, the graphics meet their demise as well. The Advanced Session Redliner implementation allows the field user to store graphics as part of an annotation layer. Once the redline information has been sent to the enterprise, the graphics may be posted to SDE.Default and can remain as long as necessary without attachment to the original redline session.

This implementation allows the field user to place redline graphics with sessions while working in the field. A field editor may create a new redline session or access an existing one in the field, add redline graphics, then send the session to an enterprise user.

Configuration (refer to Mobile Configuration Guide): Advanced Redliner

Required Esri Licenses in the Field: Engine Runtime or ArcGIS for Desktop Basic

In the field, you may choose to use ArcFM, ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine, or the ArcFM Viewer that works with ArcGIS for Desktop Basic. Most commonly, ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine is used because it is a powerful, light-weight solution. The following work flows are examples. Your work flow may vary.

Work Flow 1: Redlining Started in the Field

Work Flow 2: Redlining Started on Enterprise
