Using ArcFM Solution Desktop
Network Adapter Toolbar for CYMDIST

Resource Center Home

The user can activate CYMDIST analysis through the ArcFM Network Adapter toolbar. If the toolbar isn't visible in the ArcMap display, select View > Toolbars > Network Adapter/CYMDIST.

Network Adapter Options

The Network Adapter Options button opens the Network Adapter Options form.

Export Selected Feeders

The Export Selected Feeders button exports the selected features from ArcFM to CYMDIST.

Save Feeders to Analysis Engine

Exported feeders are only held in memory until the user chooses to save the feeder to CYMDIST with the Save Feeders to Analysis Engine button. If the option is selected, exported feeders may be saved automatically to CYMDIST.

 Get Load Case

The Get Load Case button opens the Select Load Date form.

 Execute Load Flow Analysis

Network Adapter allows the user to execute load flow analysis from ArcFM, on the feeders currently in memory. When an execute button is clicked, analysis results are calculated and displayed on the map.

After the user clicks the Execute Load Flow Analysis button, Cymdist may present a window that is hidden by Network Adapter and inaccessible by Alt + Tab. Alt + Esc allows you to close windows and display the Cymdist message. You can also set the calculation parameters in Cymdist to not display this form. In Cymdist, select Parameters > Calculation > General and deselect "Display a status box".

 Execute Short Circuit Analysis

Network Adapter allows the user to execute short-circuit analysis from ArcFM, on the feeders currently in memory. When an execute button is clicked, analysis results are calculated and displayed on the map.

 Save Analysis

An analysis may be saved to files. A single analysis is saved in two separate files, one for the analysis results, and one for the current load case. This way, the analysis can be viewed at a later time, or the results and load cases can be distributed to other Network Adapter users.

 Open Analysis

An analysis may be loaded from files. When results and the load case are loaded from a file, they are automatically imported to the Analysis API.

 Quit Network Adapter

The Quit Network Adapter button disconnects Network Adapter from CYMDIST, so that the user can open the CYMDIST application separately. Also, the button clears all XML documents from memory, including the exported feeders, the current load case, and the analysis results.

The following button(s) do not appear on the Network Adapter toolbar by default and must be added using Tools > Customize. Select the Commands tab and the ArcFM Solution category. Drag the button from the Commands window and drop it on a toolbar.

Clear Network Adapter Results

This button clears all Network Adapter results and test case tables.

Note For CYMDIST v4, rev 30 users: At times CYMDIST network connectivity messages display during an export. The messages may remain hidden under ArcMap windows giving the illusion that the export is hung. To view this hidden network connectivity message, press Alt and Esc on the keyboard. CYMDIST has been notified of this issue.
