Using ArcFM Solution Desktop
Network Adapter Options for CYMDIST

Resource Center Home

The Network Adapter Options form has four tabs: General, Cymdist Database, Load Flow, and Short Circuit.

CYMDIST requires additional set up before installing and using Network Adapter. Errors will occur if this set up is not completed. These steps are described in the ArcFM Solution Read Me file.

General Tab

Log Errors To: If the user chooses to log messages to the screen, the Export to CYMDIST Log form will appear. If the user chooses to log messages to a file, the same messages are saved to a text file. If the user chooses to log all messages, data error messages and detailed status messages will be logged. Otherwise, only data error messages will be logged.

Select the "Notify when default values are used" checkbox to receive notification during import when a null field value is encountered and a default value used.

Project Directory: CYMDIST uses the Project directory to store CYMDIST studies. Although, Network Adapter does not use the project directory, CYMDIST requires a valid, writable project directory. Errors will occur if a path is invalid or read only.

The General tab also allows the user to choose whether feeders are automatically saved to the CYMDIST database after an export. Select the "Save feeders to CYMDIST automatically on export" checkbox to save after an export.

Select the "Stop traces at open devices" checkbox to determine how tracing works. If this field is checked, an open device marks the end of a line. If the field is unchecked, the trace will continue beyond the device, adding sections to CYMDIST whether they are energized or not.

In the Network Adapter MDB field, browse or enter a path to the Network Adapter database (NetworkAdapter.mdb in the sample data). This database cannot be a feature database. More information about NetworkAdapter.mdb is available in the Network Adapter Implementation Guide.

Cymdist Database Tab

CYMDIST requires network and equipment databases. You may use the same database or two difference databases. If you're using two different databases, they must have the same vendor and version (e.g., both Oracle 9 or both Access 2000). Enter or browse to paths for each of the database directories. These paths must be valid and writable. Errors will occur if a path is invalid or read only. If you are using Oracle, enter the Net Service Name. Enter the server name for SQL Servers. Be sure to choose the correct fields for the type of database you are using.

Load Flow and Short Circuit Tabs

These tabs allow the user to set options for load flow analysis and short-circuit analysis.
