Create System Favorite

Use the ArcFM System Favorites Manager to create favorites that are available to all users connected to the geodatabase. A favorite is a feature with a description and user-defined attribute values. System favorites may be created on the Features or Compatible Units tabs.

  1. From the Table of Contents in ArcCatalog, select a geodatabase.
  2. Click the Favorites icon on the ArcFM Solution toolbar OR right-click and select ArcFM Favorites to display the ArcFM System Favorites Manager.
  3. Right-click a category and select Create Favorite.
  4. Select feature class from Select a Target dialog.
  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Create Favorite window, enter a description. This description is listed in ArcMap on the Features tab or CUs tab. The favorite icons differ based on whether you're creating a feature favorite or a CU favorite .

  7. Edit attribute fields as necessary. If you're creating a feature favorite (on the Features tab), skip to step 9. Compatible Unit favorites offer a couple extra options (see next step).
  8. CU Favorites provide the options to add additional CUs and related objects to the favorite. To access these tools, right-click the CU node in the Create Favorite window.
    • Add Non-GIS CU: Select one or more non-GIS CUs from the list. Select a value from the Work Function field. Enter a value in the Quantity field to indicate the number of each non-GIS CU you wish to add. The Search field allows you to locate a specific non-GIS CU. Click the Find Next button to continue the search.
    • Add Related: This field lists the objects that may be related to the selected CU. Select Add Related | {Object}. In the Select CUs window, choose the CU(s) that correspond to the related objects you wish to add. Select a value from the Work Function and Subtype fields. Enter a value in the Quantity field to indicate the number of each related object you wish to add. The Search field allows you to locate a specific CU. Click the Find Next button to continue the search.
    • Add Existing CU: This field lists the existing CUs that may be added to the selected CU. In the Select CUs window, choose the CU(s) that correspond to the objects you wish to add. Select a value from the Work Function field. Enter a value in the Quantity field to indicate the number of each CU you wish to add. The Search field allows you to locate a specific CU. Click the Find Next button to continue the search. Note: If you're attempting to add a CU that has been recently created, it will not appear in the list until you've clicked Apply on the System Favorites Manager.
  9. Click Create to add favorite to ArcFM System Favorites Manager display. Clicking Create again adds a copy of your favorite with same attribute values and description.
  10. Click Close to dismiss the Create Favorite dialog.
