Responder Overview > Manage Incidents > Incident Management - General Information > Switching Operation |
Responder allows you to include a switching device in an incident. For example, an outage may occur on a fuse and leave a neighborhood without power (Figure 1). You may manipulate a switch (circled in red) to provide the neighborhood with power while the fuse is being repaired.

In Figure 2, an incident is created on the switch and its Actual Status field is set to Closed in order to provide power to the load points. Responder allows the user to indicate that the switch is closed on specific phases only.
Figure 2, the switch provides power until the fuse is repaired
Once the fuse is repaired and the user restores the devices in Responder, the switch's Actual Status reverts back to its Expected Status. The incident symbology remains on the two devices (fuse and switch) until the incident is closed.
