Responder Overview > Responder Toolbar in ArcMap > Responder Trace Tools |
Available in ArcMap.
Responder includes three tracing tools in ArcMap. These trace tasks are utilized by Responder and its prediction engine to analyze the network and determine affected load points and calculate prediction ratios. They are displayed in the Customize dialog under Responder Commands to allow users to perform these traces as well.
|
To perform a trace, select the appropriate trace from the Responder toolbar and click a device on the map to identify the start point. All traces use the same cursor (see below). The blue dot in the middle snaps to selectable devices. A layer must be set as selectable before this tool will snap to its features. Ensure the cursor has snapped to the device before clicking. |
All trace results are highlighted in red on the map.
Note: These traces treat confirmed incident devices as barriers.
Trace results are shown highlighted red in ArcMap.
Find Source: This trace identifies the path to the feeder source. If loops exist in the path, it shows those as well. Click a device. All edges and devices that must be passed through to reach the source will be highlighted. Nothing will be highlighted if no path exists.
Find Downstream Features: This trace identifies all junctions and edges downstream of the start point. If a confirmed incident device exists downstream, it acts as a barrier to the trace.
Find Immediate Children: This trace identifies all of the devices directly connected to the device on which the trace was started. For example, if the user clicks a fuse to begin a trace, all of the transformers connected to that fuse will be returned in the trace results. However, the load points connected to the transformers will not be included.
Responder traces include confirmed faults as well as unconfirmed/probable devices. This allows you to perform before/after confirmation traces.
