Using Responder
Edit Switching/Restoration Order

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

Available in Responder Explorer.

There are multiple ways to open and edit an existing switching or restoration order or template.

You can select the Refresh Device States option from the Order menu (or press F5) to update the actual state of all devices in all open switching and restoration orders. This is useful when a change is being made to a device while the Switching Order Editor window is still open.

Assigned Switching/Restoration Order

Use these steps if the switching or restoration order has been assigned to an incident. A template will never be assigned to an incident.

  1. In Responder Explorer, expand the incident to which the switching or restoration order has been assigned.
  2. Right-click the switching or restoration order and select Edit.
  3. Use the Switching Order Editor to edit as needed.
  4. When you've finished editing the operations, Save from the Order menu then Close, or select the X on the switching order's tab.
Note: If you click the red X in the window's upper-right corner, the entire window closes, along with any other switching orders in the window. If changes have been made to any switching order, a prompt appears for you to save these changes for each order.

Unassigned Switching Order or Template

Use these steps if the switching order has NOT been assigned to an incident. In this case, the order resides in the Switching Order Library. Restoration orders are always assigned to incidents. See the previous steps to open a restoration order.

  1. In Responder Explorer, select File > Switching Orders.
  2. Select Open a Switching Order or Template from the Library.
  3. In the Switching Order Library, locate the switching order or template you wish to open. You can open it using one of three methods:
    • Double-click
    • Right-click and select Open
    • Ctrl + O
  4. Use the Switching Order Editor to edit as needed.

Scheduled Switching Order

You can also edit a switching order that has been scheduled to execute at a later date.

  1. In Responder Explorer, select the Scheduled Switching Orders tab.
  2. Right-click the switching order you wish to edit and select Edit.
