Configuring Responder
Configure for 64-Machine for 32-Bit Processes

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

IIS 7 Users

IIS 7 users can use Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to enable 32-bit process on a 64-bit machine.

This may already be configured on your 64-bit machine. Ensure the information below is correct.

  1. Open IIS Services Manager.
  2. Under the machine name, select Application Pool.
  3. Select the Responder AppPool.
  4. Click Advanced Settings.
  5. Set the Enable 32-Bit Applications to True.
  6. Click OK.

Pre-IIS 7

If you are using a 64-bit machine, it must be configured to use Responder's 32-bit processes. Follow the steps below to configure.

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Type the following command to enable the 32-bit mode:
     cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 1
    
  3. Type the following command to install the 32-bit version of ASP.NET 2.0 as well as the map scripts at the IIS root and below.
     %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i 
    
  4. Ensure that the status for APS.NET version 2.0.50727 (32-bit) is set to allowed in the web service extension list on the IIS Manager.
