Fiber Manager Configuration Guide
Step 10: Configure Object Classes

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

To properly configure the classic data model used by Fiber Manager, you must assign model names, autoupdaters, and/or primary field display names to Fiber Manager object classes. This page illustrates how these items are assigned in the Minerville.mdb sample geodatabase.

Do not assign the FIBERCONNECTIONDISPLAYFIELD field model name to the F_FIBERCONNECTIONOBJECT table. The FIBERCONNECTIONDISPLAYFIELD field model name should only be assigned to fields on connectable objects such as strands, buffertubes, and cables.

Circuit Trace: Circuit trace results include only items that have the FIBERCIRCUITPARTICIPANT class model name assigned. Error messages result from circuit traces begun from items that lack this model name. A circuit trace continues until it reaches the end of the path or until it encounters an item that lacks this model name. Circuit traces started from an item with connectable objects on either side, but only one of which possesses the FIBERCIRCUITPARTICIPANT model name, travel in the direction of the object with the model name (i.e., behaves like a directional trace).

Fiber Availability Autoupdater: This autoupdater summarizes the number of available children in a parent by maintaining the SinglemodeAvailabilityIndicator and MultimodeAvailabilityIndicator fields. Refer to the Settings for Using the ArcFM Fiber Availability Autoupdater topic for more information.

The autoupdaters and model names assigned to an object may not be available until after the ArcFM Properties Manager is closed and then reopened.

Reports: This configuration does not include a Patch Panel Connection Report. Follow the steps outlined on the Flexible Patch Panel Connection Report page.

When you assign the SCHEMATICEXPORTATTRIBUTE model name to a new field, you will need to edit the field's storage mode in ArcCatalog's Schematics Dataset Editor. Please refer to the SCHEMATICEXPORTATTRIBUTE topic for more information.
