ArcFM Desktop Configuration Guide
Step 1: Prepare Database and Create Domains

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1c SP3

Resource Center Home

1. Prepare your database

Right-click your database in ArcCatalog and run both of the following tools:

2.  Create domains

Apply the following domain properties to each domain listed below.

Field Type: Long Integer
Domain Type: Coded Values
Split policy: Duplicate
Merge policy: Default Value

FdrMgrNonTraceable

If you plan to create a FdrMgrNonTraceable field on one or more of your edge feature classes, create a domain to be applied to fields carrying the FDRMGRNONTRACEABLE field model name (assigned in a future step).

Code Description
0 Traceable
1 NonTraceable

NormalStatus

This domain provides values for the possible positions of switchable devices.

Code Description
0 Open
1 Closed
2 Not Applicable

Phase Designation

Phasing allows you to maintain information on individual phases of a conductor or device.

Code Description
1 C
2 B
3 BC
4 A
5 AC
6 AB
7 ABC

Single Phase

This domain provides phasing for single-phase conductors and devices.

Code Description
1 C
2 B
4 A

Two Phase

This domain provides phasing for two-phase conductors and devices.

Code Description
3 BC
5 AC
6 AB

Three Phase

This domain provides phasing for three-phase conductors and devices.

Code Description
7 ABC

Transformer Unit kVA

The ArcFM Electric Trace Options includes an option to display kVA by phase for a trace. To access this option in ArcMap, click the Options button on the ArcFM Electric Traces toolbar and select the Electric Traces tab:

With this option checked, the Rated kVA dialog is shown after each trace. This displays the sum of the rated kVA (by phase) for all transformer units returned by the trace. If transformer units are not present, the rated kVA is calculated from the kVA values of the transformers. If it's not configured, or configured incorrectly, it displays values of 0.0.

To display Rated kVA for a trace, you must create the following domain. This domain holds the possible RatedkVA values in your network. The following table shows an example of how you might create this domain. Your domain will probably have more values.

Code Description
10 10 kVA
15 15 kVA
25 25 kVA
38 37.5 kVA
50 50 kVA
75 75 kVA
100 100 kVA

YesNo

This domain is used for numerous fields across the ArcFM Solution.

Code Description
0 No
1 Yes

3. Create model name domains

If they do not already exist, create and populate the domains that contain the electric field and object class model names. Apply the following domain properties to each domain listed below.

Field Type: Text
Domain Type: Coded Values
Split policy: Default Value
Merge policy: Default Value

Populate this domain with all of the following field model names.
