Sidewall Bearing Pressure

Version: 10.2.1c and 10.2.1.c SP3

Resource Center Home

The cable sidewall bearing pressure is the radial pressure experienced by the cable as it is pulled through a curved secdon. The parameters which influence SWBP are tension and radius of curvature of the bend. The pressure calculated by the equations in the table below must not exceed 500 Ib/ft. The equation variables are:

SWBP = Sidewall bearing pressure (lb/ft)

T = Tension exiting the bend (lb)

Ri = Inside bending radius (ft)

Wc = Weight correction factor (dimensionless)
