Appendix > Cable Pulling Calculations > Pulling Configuration |
The relative position of the cables in the conduit in a multiple cable pull is important because it affects the weight and distribution of the cables and, therefore, affects the normal force between the cables and the conduit The position of a smaller neutral cable is disregarded in determining the pulling configuration for a pull with two cables. For a pull with two cables, a triangular configuration is assumed.
Three Cable Pull
TRIANGULAR
occurs when:
CRADLED
occurs when:
Four Cable Pull
DIAMOND
occurs when:
CRADLED
occurs when:
Where:
D = Inside diameter of conduit
dx = 1.05 x largest cable
The configuration for all triplex cable pulls is triangular. The configuration for all quadruplex cable pulls is diamond.
