ArcFM Engine Configuration Guide
Configure Inspector

Resource Center Home

This tool allows the mobile user to perform inspections of equipment in the field and create or edit related objects as needed. For example, a mobile user may be inspecting support structures and find a pole attachment that is not represented in the GIS. The mobile user may use the Inspector tool to view existing attachments on the pole and create a new related object to represent the attachment.

In order to identify the feature being inspected (e.g., pole) and the related objects (e.g., joint use attachment), you will need to assign the appropriate model names.

Inspector must be configured in the backdrop geodatabase.

  1. In ArcCatalog, right-click the feature class to be inspected (e.g., pole) and select ArcFM Properties Manager. This feature class must have spatial representation on the map.
  2. On the Model Names tab, assign the INSPECTORSOURCE model name. Click OK.
  3. Right-click the table that represents the related object (e.g., JointUseAttachment) and select ArcFM Properties Manager. This feature class will not have spatial representation on the map.
  4. On the Model Names tab, assign the INSPECTORDESTINATION model name. Click OK.
  5. Right-click the relationship class for the source and destination features (e.g., SupportStructure_JointUseAttachment) and select ArcFM Properties Manager.

  6. Enter a value for the Alias Name. This name is used to display the Inspection Mode. If no value is entered in this field, then the relationship name is used instead (e.g., Transformer_TransformerUnit).

  7. Click OK on the ArcFM Properties Manager dialog to save changes.
