Using ArcFM Solution Desktop
Mobile ArcFM Solution Overview

Resource Center Home

The ArcFM Mobile Solution allows utilities to leverage ArcFM and Designer (if licensed) functionality in the field. Feature and redline edits made in the field are transferred back to the Enterprise using packets. The ArcFM Solution automatically creates these packets and automates the process of transmitting them to and from the Enterprise using tasks. Depending on the configuration, a field user can perform a wide variety of tasks before sending the packet information back to the Enterprise database.

ArcFM functionality such as Mass Attribute Update and the Template Tool may be used while in the field. If you have a Designer license, Designer functionality such as the Work Function Tool will be available in the field in addition to the ArcFM tools.

If you have a license for Designer, it must be active. To do this, check out a Designer license using the License Manager Desktop Administrator (see Configuring ArcFM Solution online help for more information).

The following implementations describe how Mobile is used in the field.

The Troubleshooting section focuses on issues and questions that may arise when using Mobile.

If you are using Mobile ArcFM in the field, the Phase Swap tool will be disabled. This tool is not available for use on databases disconnected from the enterprise.

Feeder Manager 2.0 and ArcFM Viewer

If your data was configured for Feeder Manager 2.0 only, you can view it in ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine. You will not, however, be able to edit feeder data in mobile sessions. If you do so, the ArcFM Viewer display will not reflect your changes.
