Using ArcFM Solution Desktop
Designer CU to WL Assignment

Resource Center Home

This tool allows you to assign compatible units (CUs) to Work Locations (WLs) in an open design on the Design tab. Users may indicate how CUs are assigned using the WL Assignment tab in Tools > Designer Options.

How linear CUs are assigned to Work Locations depends on the setting selected in the ArcFM Properties Manager on the geodatabase in ArcCatalog. If you want to change this setting, contact your Administrator. There are three settings:

Using the Designer CU to WL Assignment tool will also remove work locations from your design that you have not placed on the map.

Starting Work Location

If you have placed multiple WLs, the linear CU is assigned to the WL closest to its starting point. In the example below, the WL1 is closest to the Service Pipe feature's start, therefore the pipe is assigned to WL1.

Start to End Work Location (span)

The linear CU is assigned to a span between WLs. In the example below, the Service Pipe is assigned to WL 1-2 Span on the Attribute Editor.

Ending Work Location

If multiple WLs have been placed, the linear CU is assigned to the WL closest to its ending point. In the example below, the WL2 is closest to the Service Pipe feature's end, therefore the pipe is assigned to WL2.
