This implementation allows the field designer retrieve a preliminary design sent from the enterprise and place redline graphics with that design before sending it back to the enterprise. A field designer may also create a new redline design, add redline graphics, then send the design to an enterprise user. With this implementation, graphics are saved with the design.
Configuration (refer to Mobile Configuration Guide): Basic Redliner
Required ArcFM Licenses in the Field: Redliner Extension and Designer, ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine, or the ArcFM Viewer that works with ArcGIS for Desktop Basic (formerly ArcView).
Required Esri Licenses in the Field: Engine Runtime or ArcGIS for Desktop Basic
Field Databases: Backdrop, Login (optional), Process Framework (e.g., Workflow Manager)
In the field, you may choose to use Designer, ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine, or the ArcFM Viewer that works with ArcGIS for Desktop Basic. Most commonly, ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine is used because it is a powerful, light-weight solution. The following work flow is an example. Your work flow may vary.
- Open Workflow Manager: The Open Workflow Manager button on the Workflow Manager toolbar opens the Workflow Manager application and allows you to send, receive and view designs.
- Retrieve Redline Designs (optional): If your administrator has configured Geodatabase Replication to automatically send and receive designs, this step is not necessary. Otherwise, execute the the Send/Receive Mobile Data task to retrieve data from the enterprise. This task requires a network connection.
- Create Work Request/Design (optional): In most instances, designs are created on the enterprise and sent to the field. However, the Redliner extension provides the field designer with the ability to create work requests and designs in the field.
- Open Redline Design: With a design selected in Workflow Manager, execute the Open Redline Design task to open it in ArcFM Viewer.
- Navigate/Query Map: While using ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine in the field, all ArcFM Viewer tools (e.g., Locator, Identify, Tracing) are available to the user. While using ArcFM Viewer (on ArcFM Desktop platform) in the field, all ArcFM Viewer tools (e.g., Locator, Identify, Tracing) are available to the user.
- Place Graphics: Place graphics on the map using the Graphics tab. Save and close the design when finished. Graphics are stored with the design.
- Digital Ink and Gestures (ArcFM Engine Only): The Digital Ink and Gestures tools available in ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine are also available with Redliner (only if you're using Redliner on ArcFM Viewer for ArcGIS Engine).
- Send Design: There are two options for sending the design back to the Enterprise. The first option is the easiest and most commonly used. 1) Use the Send Design task or button to select a user and send the design to the enterprise. 2) Use the Send Design to Enterprise task to submit the design to an enterprise designer.
- Send/Receive Mobile Data (optional): If your administrator has configured Geodatabase Replication to automatically send and receive designs, this step is not necessary. Otherwise, execute the the Send/Receive Mobile Data task to send data to the enterprise (and retrieve any data sent from the enterprise). This final task requires a network connection.
