Structural Analysis Tab

Structural Analysis options can be accessed from Tools -> Designer Options. Click the Structural Analysis tab on the Designer Options window. The Structural Analysis tab allows you to set the thresholds for ruling spans. The Ruling Span frame on the Structural Analysis tab contains three configurable settings which include:

Individual to actual ruling span comparison threshold: This threshold compares the length of the individual spans that you’ve clicked on the map to the Actual Ruling span. In the following example, the Actual Ruling span is 159.88. Individual span length for 2 (194.17) and 4 (90.85) are highlighted in red, as they fall outside the 20% threshold.
Design to actual ruling span comparison threshold: This threshold compares the design ruling span with the actual ruling span. In the following example, the design ruling span is 175 and the actual ruling span is 159.88. The actual ruling span falls within 20% of the design ruling span.
Maximum allowed pole deflection: This setting determines the maximum percentage of pole deflection. In other words, how much the pole top can bend.

The "Show help messages" checkbox allows you to turn on/off help dialogs that are displayed at various times while using Structural Analysis. For example, when the user selects either of the Length tools a message similar to the following is displayed.

Check the "Show help messages" checkbox to display similar helpful messages. Uncheck it to suppress them.

If you change the ruling span thresholds while the Structural Analysis window is open, the change won't take effect until Structural Analysis is closed, then opened again.
