Feeder Manager Locator

Resource Center Home

This search method allows you to locate all features associated with a feeder or group of feeders in a specific phase.

  1. Click the Locator tool button on the ArcFM toolbar to display the ArcFM Locator.
  2. Select locator method, Feeder Manager, from the pulldown list.
  3. Select Auto Zoom to Selection to automatically zoom to the found set of features. If you click the Stop button before the search is complete, the Auto Zoom will NOT zoom to the found set.
  4. Select Auto Add to Selection to automatically select the found set on the map and append it to the Selection tab of the Attribute Viewer. If the user clicks the Stop button before the search is complete, the found set will be selected. This field will be disabled if the layer you're searching is not selectable or is a table.
  1. Click the Feeder Manager Search Criteria button to set your search criteria.
  2. Select the types of features you wish to search for.

Click the headers below to show/hide the text under each.

All Feeders, Multiple-Feed Feeders, or Feeders with Loops

All Feeders locates all devices belonging to a given feeder or set of feeders. Select Multi-Feed Feeders to find all feeders that have more than one source of electric power. Feeders with Loops locates all feeders that create electrical loops.

  1. Select an Energized Phase. The value in this field allows you to find all features associated with a feeder or group of feeders associated with a specific phase.

For conductors, the energized phase information within the FeederInfo field is determined using the field with the PHASEDESIGNATION field model name assigned. Therefore the energized phase matches the phase designation. For devices however, the energized phase does not match the phase designation.

  1. Select the Locate Lines Only (or Locate Lines with Loops Only) checkbox to view only conductor features.
  2. Choose a Substation.
  3. Select a feeder from the grid.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Click Find in the ArcFM Locator window to perform the search. Click the Stop button if you wish to end the search before it is complete.

De-Energized Features

Generally, electrical features that remain de-energized in a normal switching state indicate a data problem, usually in the form of a switchable device that is incorrectly attributed as "open" on one or more phases. This search allows you to locate any de-energized features in the network.

  1. Select the Locate Lines Only checkbox to view only conductor features.
  2. Choose a Substation.
  3. Select a feeder from the grid.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Click Find in the ArcFM Locator window to perform the search. Click the Stop button if you wish to end the search before it is complete.

Tie Devices and Terminal Devices

Tie Devices are switchable devices set in an open state and that can be energized from two different sources. A Terminal Device is any switchable device that prevents electrical power from reaching some features because of its "open" status on one or more phases.

The Feeder/Tie locator allows you to locate all tie and/or terminal devices and filter the resulting set into those devices associated with a given feeder or group of feeders.

  1. Choose a Substation.
  2. Select a feeder from the grid.
  3. Click Close.
  4. Click Find in the ArcFM Locator window to perform the search. Click the Stop button if you want to end the search before it is complete.

Options

This dialog allows you to select the network on which the search will be performed. You may also elect to group your results by Feeder or sort them by their ArcFM Display Field. Your options selections are persisted and don't need to be set before each search.
