Migrating Existing Circuit Data

In ArcFM Solution Desktop 10.1 and later the circuit header information required for broken circuits to heal themselves is automatically added to every new circuit you create. This circuit header information consists of three new fields on every circuit:

FIBERCIRCUITHEADERGLOBALID
FIBERCIRCUITTRACESTYLE

Two of the three fields are likely to be hidden from view in ArcMap, but if they are not, do not edit them. When you create new circuits, these fields are populated with values required for automatic circuit healing to take place.

Prior to version 10.1, circuits contained none of these circuit header information fields. While the process of upgrading to Fiber Manager version 10.1 (or later) added the required fields (mentioned above) to your database, these fields contain no data. As such, any circuits that existed in your data prior to version 10.1 must be manually updated so that their header information is populated.

Add Header Information to Circuits Created Before Fiber Manager 10.1

For any dirty circuits that you want to heal, select a location on the map (usually a patch location) that contains a component of the circuit that you're confident will not change.
Open Circuit Manager.
From the list of circuits, select those that travel through the features you selected in step 1.
Verify that the circuit contains the fields mentioned at the top of this page. If those fields are not present, contact a database administrator about upgrading the database before proceeding further.
In Circuit Manager, use the Circuit Type drop-down menu to filter the list by <show circuits without header only>.
Select a circuit in the filtered list.
Click the Add Header button.
Select the object, e.g., a port, that want to act as the header of the circuit. The circuit header fields (mentioned at the top of this page) are populated. The circuit is now capable of healing itself should connectivity updates require it to change.
Continue this process for all existing circuits whose header information fields are not populated.
