Configuring the ArcFM Solution Overview > ArcCatalog Tools > ArcFM Properties Manager > Split On Edit |
The Split on Edit tool provides faster splitting of lines when junction features are created. Split on Edit splits the line before creating the feature. To enable this functionality, right-click a point feature and select the ArcFM Properties Manager. On the Object Info tab set the Split on Edit property to Yes.
This functionality only works when placing a feature using the ArcFM Attribute Editor in ArcMap. It will not work if you use ArcGIS editing tools, or create features outside of ArcMap.
The Split on Edit functionality does not impact the way your autoupdaters are set. They should be left unchanged for two reasons. When Split on Edit is triggered, the Split autoupdater (which fires later in the process) will detect that the junction is being added at an endpoint, and will not split the line again. If you edit with ArcGIS editing tools (or edit outside of ArcMap), Split on Edit will not get triggered, and you'll need the autoupdater to split the line as usual.
Following is the configuration that allows a point feature to split a line when the point feature is placed.
Assign the CONDUCTORINFO model name on the Object Info tab (the Related Object AUs mentioned below require this model name)
Assign the SPLITTARGET model name on the Object Info tab
Assign the ArcFM Save Related Objects AU to the Before Feature Split event
Assign the ArcFM Split Feeder Object AU to the On Feature Split event
Assign the ArcFM Restore Related Objects AU to the After Feature Split event
Assign the ArcFM Segment Split AU to the On Feature Create event on the Object Info tab
Set the Split On Edit feature property to Yes.
